The Bidens' dogs are getting company: "She's waiting in the wings"

Washington DC - The Bidens are "feline" fine after their first 100 days in office – and have decided to add a new four-legged friend to the White House family.

It looks like President Joe Biden's dogs will soon have a new playmate.

The first family will be taking in a cat, First Lady Jill Biden said in an interview with NBC News on Friday.

"She's waiting in the wings," the 69-year-old added – making it clear that they already have their eye on a female feline.

The First Lady also defended their dog Major, who injured two people in March, by saying he is "such a sweet, lovable dog". Major continues to live in the White House and has been undergoing special anti-bite training.

"That was part of his training. They took him into a shelter with cats," she said. "He did fine."

The Bidens have two German Shepherds, Major and Champ, who got their very own "indoguration" ceremony in January when their owners took office.

Pets have a long tradition in the White House. Biden's predecessor, Donald Trump, was the first president in recent history whose family did not have a dog.

A few past first families have seen cats and dogs living in harmony – former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton both had cats and dogs residing under the White House roof.

President Biden told NBC News that it wasn't his idea to get a cat – making it clear that Jill is the true cat lover among the two.

Hopefully they haven't been fighting like cats and dogs over the decision to add a new furry friend!
