Will Trump's daughter Ivanka turn against her father after recent allegations?
New York, New York – Could things be coming to a big family spat between the Trumps?
After Donald Trump's (75) chief financial officer was charged with tax fraud last week, things are not looking good for the ex-president.
Since the criminal charges have been brought against Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg (73) for tax evasion, sources have been speculating about which member of the family business could be next in the line of fire.
Trump's daughter Ivanka (39) is high on the list, having worked for her father's company for years and as a White House adviser during his tenure as president.
"She has this issue with payments," explained former federal prosecutor Cynthia Alksne of Ivanka in a new interview with MSNBC.
Alksne went on to highlight questions surrounding how Ivanka could be an employee of the company, and also have been receiving payments for consulting fees at the same time.
"It looks fishy in essentially a swap of tax fraud. That’s what makes me think that’s where they [investigators] are going to look," she added.
"The fish rots from the head. And all the heads have the given name Trump," she tweeted on Friday.
Ivanka has been keeping a low profile so far, and has not spoken out since the Capitol riot in January.
Mary Trump believes Ivanka will testify against her father
According to Mary Trump (56) – Donald's niece who penned a tell-all about the family – there's a reason Ivanka has kept quiet.
"If anyone is going to stab Donald Trump in the back, it's Ivanka. She has the most to lose," Mary Trump said.
Speaking to the Daily Beast's The New Abnormal podcast, the author, who has been at odds with her uncle for years, questioned Ivanka's loyalty.
"She’s much less likely to stay loyal than Allen Weisselberg," the 56-year-old said.
"I think Ivanka has, one, more to lose and, two, more to hang onto. Her husband’s [Jared Kushner] family is legitimately very wealthy," she added.
An indictment could also put the Kushner family's fortune in jeopardy.
Whether Ivanka wants to take that risk remains to be seen.
