Trump takes down his new blog after just one month for an embarassing reason

Palm Beach, Florida – The project only lasted a month before he apparently had enough: on Wednesday, Donald Trump announced the end of his blog. The former president was reportedly frustrated because hardly anyone was reading it.

The blog section of the ex-president's website, From the Desk of Donald J. Trump, launched at the beginning of May, is no longer accessible.

Trump said goodbye to the project after just a few weeks, his associate Jason Miller confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday.

Trump's blog had reportedly been created as a stopgap measure.

The major platforms Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube banned him from their sites in January. The blocks came after Trump made repeated claims of election fraud and his supporters stormed the US Capitol – with the ex-president expressing sympathy for the attackers.

The blog was initially launched with a lot of fanfare, in typical Trump fashion. "In a time of silence and lies, a beacon of freedom arises," an announcement video boasted at the time.

But reality was reportedly very different from expectation: according to the Washington Post, the blog's audience was "staggeringly small."

Trump is said to have been frustrated after being told by friends that interest was low and that the site made him seem small and irrelevant.

Trump himself has been fueling speculation for some time that he might launch his own online platform, with his associate Jason Miller hinting Wednesday that the former reality TV star plans to return to another social media channel soon.
