According to CNBC, Ellis (38) pled guilty in Fulton County Superior Court on Tuesday to one count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings.

Ellis, who infamously smiled in her mug shot when she was indicted, appeared before Judge Scott McAfee to deliver an apologetic statement regarding her alleged role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.

"As an attorney who is also a Christian, I take my responsibilities as a lawyer very seriously, and I endeavor to be a person of sound moral and ethical character in all of my dealings," she said.

"I failed to do my due diligence," she continued. "I believe in and I value election integrity. If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post election challenges. I look back on this whole experience with deep remorse."

Ellis now joins the ranks of several form Trump allies, including Kenneth Cheesebro and Sydney Powell, who also took plea deals, and could testify in all proceedings related to the trial.

"I believed that challenging the results on behalf of President Trump should be pursued in a just and legal way," Ellis later added.
