Ivanka Trump opens up on future plans after missing her dad's 2024 campaign launch
Miami, Florida - Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former president Donald Trump, has announced that she is taking a break from politics, and has no plans to participate in her father's 2024 campaign.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Ivanka, who served as White House advisor under Trump's administration, explained that she has things beyond politics that she would like to focus on.
"I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family," she said. "I do not plan to be involved in politics."
"While I will always love and support my father," she continued, "going forward I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and will always be proud of many of our administration's accomplishments."
Her remarks come right after Trump announced on Tuesday that he was running for a second term as president in 2024.
Ivanka's husband Jared Kushner did attend the event, while her brother Don Jr. and sister Tiffany Trump also did not.
Ivanka Trump says she and her father remain "extremely close"
Ivanka and Donald Trump have seemed at odds recently.
Back in June, Ivanka testified to the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection on the US capitol that she didn't believe the 2020 election was stolen.
Trump lashed out on social, claiming that she had "checked out" long ago.
An upcoming book by Maggie Haberman, called Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America, also claims that Trump had planned to fire Ivanka and Kushner through a tweet while he was president.
Despite their issues, Ivanka tells Fox that her and her father are still "extremely close" and that "will never change."
It's unclear if Ivanka Trump's husband Jared Kushner, who also served as White House advisor, plans to participate in the ex-president's 2024 campaign.
