New York Comic Con 2022: Marvel secrets, cosplay, and more take over Day 2
New York, New York - New York Comic Con (NYCC), the annual fan convention that highlights everything in pop culture, kicked Day 2 off with innovative cosplay and a few Marvel secrets!
Multiple spider-men, Doctor Doom, and young Jedis.
On Friday, the long-awaited summit that pays homage to everything from movies, games, and TV shows, continued its celebration with an array of original attire displayed by the truest fans of pop culture.
Marvel and DC heroes, villains, and popular anime figures like Sailor Moon were all honored by the die-hard fandom who’ve waited three years for NYCC's return.
But it was the tea that was spilled during the Marvel Comics: Marvel Fanfare panel, led by Marvel comics' editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski, that truly showcased just how important the comics are to any of the superhero universes.
No one can deny the messiness of the chaotic Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Though the genius behind the most recent Marvel comics couldn't quite clarify every little detail, he did finally put to rest the longstanding confusion over Spider-Man's actually true love being Gwen Stacy – not Mary Jane Watson.
Cebulski, writer Steve Wacker, and animator Humberto Ramos also dished on how much their comics may affect the future of the MCU.
Marvel writers reveal the secrets behind the MCU
After Cebulski stressed that the Marvel comics are a much different universe from the MCU, he did confirm that the writers still have a lot of insight into the creation of the superhero movies.
"Do you look to movies for inspiration when drawing your characters?" Cebulski asked Ramos during the panel.
"It’s important when I design characters, I think of two things," Ramos replied. "For example, The Punisher, not the one from the TV show, but from the comics, it was always funny to me that he would wear these white boots in the comics because in real life he probably wouldn’t do that."
Wacker added, "The key to a lot of Marvel movies is the humor like fans see in the comics, and that’s something we try to instill every day."
"We're always trying to emulate Stan Lee and others who paved the way for us. All of the crazy stuff that happens in comics, we try to emulate that in everything we write," Cebulski said.
The editor also let slip that if fans really want to know where the MCU is headed, grab a comic!
"We're essentially ten years ahead of the MCU if you want to know how crazy things get," he teased.
So for the fans who want an idea of where the chaotic MCU is heading, pick up some comics and catch up on all the madness!
