Funky, born Jorge Matas, is closing out the 'signature-searching" chapter of his life with a bang, and it'll cost you a pretty chunk of change to quite literally leave your mark on his tattoo-filled body.

That's right: the world record holder for having the most signatures tattooed on one’s back is auctioning off the final three spots left before hanging up his signature-tattooing hat for a small sum of $1.5 million per spot.

When asked by TAG24 what led him to decide to auction off the remaining spots, and why just three, Matas said, "This is a project that has been in the works for over a decade. And there is limited space. I HAVE to be picky about who joins."

He continued, "I am auctioning off these last [three] spots because I want different people from all walks of life on it. Maybe someone isn’t a celebrity, but they love the idea of being part of a world record alongside hundreds of celebrities and people that have changed the world! Well, this is the opportunity."

Matas later added that he intends to use the money to give back "to all sorts of communities."

"After traveling and seeing the world through a different lens with my crypto project, The F8 Club, I’ve noticed that [what] fills me the most is giving back. And that is exactly what I will do," he said.

Though Matas said he already auctioned off one of the three final spots to an anonymous person who bought the space as a gift to a friend in Dubai whose been a longtime follower of Funky's, two spots remain.

Funky Matas reflect on the best celeb reaction to his back tat collection

With well over 225 celebrity signature tattoos on his back, Matas feels confident that, although "there are a handful of people that are working towards" dethroning his world record-holding title for most signature tattoos on one's back, he said, "I think I will remain at the top."

Matas added, "IF anyone does dethrone me, it won't be anytime in the near future." Though Matas is ending his signature-collecting journey with a multi-million-dollar bang, the man who was the first person to ever tattoo themselves while skydiving said his tattoo journey is far from over.

But in terms of his decade-long signature tattoo project, Matas told TAG24 that the best reaction he's gotten from a celeb when showing off his collection came from comedian Kevin Hart.

"As I was explaining the project to [Kevin Hart], he had a confused face and didn’t really understand what I was saying. But immediately after I pulled my shirt up and showed him my back, his reaction was priceless. He instantly said 'I HAVE TO DO THIS NOW!'" Matas said.

"He started looking for something to write with and at the same time looking for his phone to record the whole process. He couldn’t find his phone, so eventually, he ended up stealing mine and I sent the selfie to him."

As Matas waits for the final two spots – which are still up for grabs by anyone – to be auctioned off, he can't help but reflect on his signature-collecting adventure. "This project has taken me on so many adventures! Just think about it. I have over 200 signatures on my back and each one is a different story with ups and downs and emotional rollercoasters."

"From the adventures of sneaking into events to getting invited to others and meeting hundreds of people that have changed the world and inspired me throughout my life," Matas said. "I enjoy meeting these people and getting the chance to dig in their brains to see how they work and get a better understanding of someone who has been such an incredible part of my life. This project will be something enormous forever."
