Los Angeles, California - It seems that pop singer Grimes shares her partner Elon Musk's passion for the otherworldly, with a love for tattoos and - now - extreme body modification.

Some days it seems that everything Canadian singer Grimes does is less about beauty and more about making bold statements. Indeed, it wasn't that long ago that Elon Musk's favorite person decided to insert a computer chip into her brain.

Showing off her latest body modification in a now-viral Instagram post, Grimes looks like she has been belted with a whip. The inflamed slashes crisscross from shoulder-to-shoulder, reaching all the way down her back in a seemingly symmetrical pattern.

In response to the post, Grimes' fans went absolutely wild, amassing almost 400,000 likes within very little time and countless comments full of messages of love from her adoring followers.

"Don’t have a good pic cuz it hurts too much, and I need to sleep," the singer wrote in the caption of her recent post. The tattooed skin will stay red for a few weeks before revealing the white ink underneath.

While her boyfriend Elon Musk is one of the richest people in the world, and works diligently to improve space travel, Grimes also stands out from time to time with her more unique ideas.

Most recently, for example, the Canadian wanted to sell a piece of her soul, and the eccentric couple also landed in the headlines in mid-2020 for choosing the unusual name "X Æ A-12 Musk" for their first son together.

If anything, her extreme scarification, which she refers to as her "beautiful alien scars" reaffirms that Grimes is very much not part of our world.
