Of all times and places, it was at her son's wedding that an elderly woman reconnected with her long-lost daughter – who just happened to be the bride walking down the aisle!

According to the Daily Star, the woman was at her son's marriage ceremony on March 31 when she discovered a birthmark on her new daughter-in-law's hand that looked familiar.

Nervously, she approached the bride's parents to ask if they may have adopted their daughter about 20 years ago.

The family were shocked as they had never told anyone their secret. However, after the woman explained that the birthmark looked exactly like her missing daughter's, they finally revealed that they had actually found her as a baby on the roadside many years before.

The woman was left speechless. All this time she had been searching for her little girl, slowly losing hope.

Wedding takes place despite revelations

Bride starts crying as she gets the unexpected news!

The bride burst into tears as soon as she heard the news. She had yearned to meet her birth mother for such a long time and she was totally overwhelmed by having her dream come true in such an unexpected way.

She later even described the moment as being "happier than the wedding day itself".

But hold on a second – were they even able to continue their ceremony? Since the couple just learned that they shared a biological mother, wouldn't that make them siblings?

Fortunately not, because he had been adopted as well!

As a result, bride and groom were in no way genetically related and were free to continue their beautifully strange wedding.
