"Sorry for the inconvenience": Entire Nebraska Burger King staff spectacularly quits!
Lincoln, Nebraska - Burger King customers in Lincoln were in for a surprise this week. Outside one of the restaurants, the were greeted by a sign reading, "We've all quit. Sorry for the inconvenience."
Rachael Flores, the restaurant's former manager, confirmed to KKTV that the entire staff had given their notice on the same day because they were tired of the working conditions at the location.
Among other things, the temperature in the kitchen reached around 90 degrees due to a defective air conditioning system.
This caused Flores and her colleagues serious health problems, and she became so dehydrated at one point that she had to be hospitalized.
As soon as Flores returned to the restaurant after treatment, she quit – and so did her eight colleagues.
However, no one left that day. The team had to wait another fortnight due to a two-week notice period. The defective air conditioning system was never repaired.
Upper management is anything but happy!
When the day of their last shift finally arrived, the employees decided to go out with a bang, and so they left the clear message to management on the sign outside the store.
A few hours later, the restaurant owner called and demanded for it to be taken down.
"I told him I couldn't do that because we were short-staffed and lunch was just starting," Flores said.
Shortly after, another boss arrived at the location and asked for Flores' key and card. After about six hours, the sign was gone and replaced with one that read, "Now hiring. Flexible schedules."
Burger King later released a statement, "The work experience described at this location is not in line with our brand values. Our franchisee is looking into this situation to ensure this doesn't happen in the future."
