New Hampshire man leaves a five figure tip for two hot dogs!
Londonderry, New Hampshire - One customer's order of two hot dogs, fries and drinks was pretty unremarkable, until it came time for the tip. The generous patron added an unbelievable tip of $16,000 to his order!
The total amount of his meal at the barbecue restaurant Stumble Inn Bar and Grill in Londonderry was actually just $37.93, but tip was so generous that the bank had to verify the payment, New Hampshire Union Leader reported.
According to CNN , the waitress also felt she had to confirm with the customer a second time when she noticed the five-figure sum. "Don't spend it all at once," the mysterious guest is said to have replied.
The cash register receipt, shared by restaurant owner Michael Zarella on Facebook, proves that this is no fairy tale.
Zarella could say little about his incredible patron, except that he dines at the barbecue restaurant about once a month and was alone on the day in question.
"I want you to keep it, you work hard," the customer is reported to have said, after acknowledging the overwhelming tip on the bill. Needless to say, the restaurant has never had such a large donation left by a guest.
The tip was divided between the eight employees who worked in the restaurant that day, but they also decided to set aside an amount for the kitchen staff. Many of the employees have children, and they can now enjoy an unexpected bonus for summer vacation.
The inn itself is also happy about the unexpected attention. After all, the restaurant had to endure financial setback due to closures during the Covid-19 pandemic.
