Woman takes DNA test and gets a shocking result
Internet - Cat McDonald and her family were given DNA tests at Christmas to represent their bond with each other, but everything turned out very differently than expected
Cat McDonald has become famous across the internet because her DNA test turned out to be anything but ordinary. While her family has Irish roots, her own heritage read "75% Norwegian."
The young woman turned to her 108 followers on TikTok to explain the situation in a video.
Cat didn't have to do much research to find out whom she was actually related to, as the DNA test delivered the result right away. Her biological father was listed on the test provider's site, Cat explained in the video.
The news of her biological father's identity came as an extra shock, as a Google search revealed him to be the CEO of a billion-dollar company.
But then came the nasty surprise: the man already has three daughters – and he wants to leave it at that, categorically refusing contact with Cat.
Cat McDonald is raising funds for people with similar experiences
With two more videos, Cat McDonald is now seeking support from all over the world on TikTok, and offering hers as well.
The woman collects donations for the organization DNAngels, which supports people who have found out through DNA tests that one or both people they believed to be their biological parent(s) are not, in fact, genetically related to them. In addition to helping locate biological parents, DNAngels also provides emotional support to people who make such discoveries.
"I would love to channel this to a greater good. I want to ask my following to donate to DNAngels as a final 'part' of my ancestry DNA series, offering a brighter future for others that have been in my shoes," Cat told the organization. With her story, the number of subscribers she has on TikTok rose to more than 97,500 within a few days.
Many watch the clips, which have been viewed as many as 6.8 million times, and follow the link in her profile to the DNAngels website. There, TikTok users can donate to the cause and help others affected by such experiences find their biological parents.
Hopefully, those people find more caring biological relatives than Cat did.
