Mom-of-two says smoking weed makes her a better parent
Vancouver, Canada - A Canadian blogger made quite an impression on Instagram when she shared the secret that made her a "better mom."
Caitlin Fladager, mother of two primary school-aged kids, likes to smoke weed now and then - and she makes no secret about it. In fact, she wants to normalize parents puffing on joints.
A picture she posted to Instagram now shows her taking a hit from a spliff next to a sign that reads: "Mom truth: Weed should be just as acceptable as a glass of wine."
Even though she is not breaking any rules since she lives in Vancouver, where cannabis is legal for both medical and recreational purposes, some people still judge the mother for getting high.
"Yes, I have two kids. Yes, I smoke weed," she clapped back at them with her caption.
She explained she thought it was "funny" how much of society still denounces marijuana, but doesn't look twice when mothers enjoy a glass of wine after bedtime. Weed should be just as acceptable for parents, the 27-year-old woman argued.
"Weed makes me a better mom," she wrote. "I get a good night sleep after I smoke. I wake up well rested, and with a more clear mind. It’s okay to smoke weed after your kids go to bed."
Other moms thank Caitlin for her post
Caitlin explained she has suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for multiple years, but weed has eased her condition, as it helps her feel more relaxed and rested.
"Marijuana is my glass of wine. It’s my can of beer. It’s my relaxation time," she wrote.
The post has so far amassed more than 20,600 likes, and users overwhelmingly agreed with Caitlin.
"Thank you for posting this, couldn't agree more, from another smoking mom," one wrote. "I feel the same. Marijuana makes me a better mom. I have more patience and it helps me take things a day at a time," another one chimed in.
"I hate how frowned upon it is," one user agreed.
Caitlin is best known for posting pictures of her husband and children on her popular Instagram account, which is followed by over 346,000 people.
