Mexican software developer is crowned the new Miss Universe!
Hollywood, Florida - On Sunday, pageant fans were delighted to watch as the contestant from Mexico was crowned the latest Miss Universe.
Andrea Meza, a 26-year-old software engineer from Chihuahua, Mexico, won the 2021 Miss Universe title on Sunday evening in Florida.
According to the beauty pageant release, Meza wants to work for women's rights and against gender-based violence.
Meza wowed judges with an elaborate Aztec dragon as her national costume.
Her crown was placed by her predecessor Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa, who won the 2019 competition.
"Wearing the Miss Universe crown is a dream come true," Andrea Meza was quoted as saying, according to the statement.
It was the 69th pageant, with contestants from 74 countries competing this year.
