Texas man wins millions in lawsuit against bar after claiming he was too drunk
Andrews, Texas - A Texas man sued a bar after he got drunk and suffered a severe head injury in its parking lot. Now he's a whopping $5.5 million richer due to the accident!
In May 2019, Daniel Rawls left an Andrews, Texas bar after drinking and got into an altercation with Robert Henrickson, a fellow patron.
As the Houston Chronicle reported, the two had an excessive amount of drinks at the La Fogata Mexican Grill before leaving.
Outside, Rawls was allegedly assaulted by Henrickson, and fell in the "uneven parking lot." He sustained a "severe and debilitating" head injury.
Rawls then filed a lawsuit against the bar in May of this year.
According to the suit, the owner of the restaurant, Lourdes Galindo, as well as its on-duty bartender, are responsible for his injury because they allowed the two men to drink too much and leave together.
The Andrews County Circuit Court ruled in Rawls' favor in a default judgment in late last month, because the owner of the grill did not attend the hearing.
The eatery now has 30 days to appeal.

The lawsuit further alleged the bartender was not sufficiently trained by Galindo to recognize when a customer was being served too much alcohol.
Rawls also contended that the restaurant owner failed to ensure the parking lot was safe enough to not pose a danger to intoxicated customers.
Additionally, the suit also claimed the establishment was negligent for not calling an ambulance after Rawls was injured.
Incidentally, this was not the first brush with the law due to alcohol for Rawls.
According to the newspaper, he has been arrested twice before for public intoxication.
Whether the restaurant will appeal the millions they must pay remains to be seen.
