Two killed, three others wounded in Washington DC shooting
Washington DC - Two people are dead and three others are injured after a shooting in the Congress Heights area of Washington DC, one block from the metro station of the same name.
The shooting occurred just before 1:30 PM Wednesday, police said, according to CBS affiliate WUSA-TV.
Acting Police Chief Robert Contee said at a news conference late Wednesday afternoon that a man and a woman had been killed, and that another two men and one woman were injured in the incident.
The victims had been taken to area hospitals, Fire and Emergency Medical Services department spokesman Vito Maggiolo told The Washington Post. Two of the four victims were in critical conditions.
NBC4 Washington quoted Contee as saying the "senseless murders" seemed to be the results of a confrontation between two different groups.
Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser also expressed her regret and frustration over the "high levels of gun violence" and promised to work with police towards "getting guns and people willing to use guns off the streets just as soon as possible."
DC police did not immediately have any information on a suspect. A $25,000 reward is being offered for people who can offer details on the incident.
