Shooting at Idaho shopping mall kills at least two and injures more
Boise, Idaho – At least two people have been killed in a shooting at a shopping mall in Idaho.
At least four other people were injured in the incident on Monday in Boise, the state capital, police said.
One of the people injured was a police officer, Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee told a press conference.
The suspect is in police custody. Police believe the suspect was the only shooter and there is no danger to the public at this time, Lee said.
Details on the suspect were not released. The police chief also did not say anything about the motive for the crime.
Shots were first reported at the Boise Towne Square Mall early Monday afternoon.
Police responders exchanged gunfire with someone matching the suspect's description. The officer was injured and the suspect was then taken into custody.
Boise Mayor Lauren McLean thanked shopkeepers and the people in the mall for responding so quickly and taking care of people there.
"Those injured in today's unthinkable shooting at the Boise Towne Square Mall are in my prayers. The State of Idaho stands prepared to assist the Boise Police Department as they investigate the shooting," Idaho Governor Brad Little tweeted.
