Santa gets arrested for beating up the Grinch in viral video fight
Coleford, UK - One hates Christmas, the other spreads Christmas cheer to the world. The polar opposite holiday pair came to blows in a viral video which showed the Grinch and Santa Claus clashing with law enforcement in a light-hearted viral video.
Was this a holiday brawl or some festive fun?
A video posted on Facebook just before Christmas has now been viewed over 18,000 times. And despite Christmas being over, this kerfuffle is still getting lots of hits.
The clip shows a costumed Santa Claus running after another merrymaker dressed as the Grinch. Suddenly, the two swing at each other and trade punches.
As their fist fight comes to a head, Santa throws the Grinch to the ground and gains the upper hand. Yet, a police office quickly arrives and appears to arrest Santa, reading him his rights and putting him in handcuffs.
Yet, local news outlet GloucestershireLive shed light on the incident. And spoiler alert: It was only a prank.
Events planner Nikki Norman was behind the stunt, and had taken the actors through the streets of Coleford in the UK beforehand to spread some holiday cheer – and mischief.
Her crew even smashed some pies in bystanders' faces, but decided to up the ante with a street brawl between the Christmas characters.
So Norman and her team hatched the plan to up their Christmas antics with a fighting skit caught on video.
The best part? Local police agreed to take part – and were in on the joke.
"It was a bit of Christmas fun," Norman told the outlet. "We have all had such rubbish Christmas’ over the past couple of years, we thought we would try and bring a smile to others."
It looks like Santa has gotten off scot-free, and become a hit online for taking on the green Christmas hater.
"It was all a bit of fun, and the video has been widely shared and viewed," Norman said.
"I am pleased to say Santa and the Grinch are friends again and no present deliveries were affected," she added.
Looks like there's no harm, no foul between Santa and the Grinch – at least not until next year.
