Resisting a rest: This cop is still walking his beat at 91!
Camden, Arkansas - Too old for this s***? Not LC "Buckshot" Smith, who is 91 years old but far from giving up his badge as an officer.
Buckshot has been patrolling the streets of Camden, Arkansas, for over 56 years, since he started his law enforcement career in the 1960s.
About ten years ago, Buckshot decided it was time to retire from his position. After all, he was already 80 at that point.
After a few months, however, he simply got bored and went back on patrol.
Ever since, the hard-working officer has been back on duty at least four days a week, according to CNN.
Everyone of Camden's 12,500 residents knows the notorious senior police officer and tops to talk to him when they see him, said the town's spokesperson, Dana Weatherby.
While Buckshot still carries a firearm, he doubts he'll ever use it again. Smith said he has "taken more people home than I've taken to jail."
Mayor Julian Lott said Smith has a more powerful weapon instead. "He knows your mama and he knew your grandmother. So he has the authority to speak into our lives," Lott told CBS News.
Texann Shadden, a training coordinator for the police department, recalled a day of extreme winter weather in Camden, when Buckshot's car was snowed in. Instead of just calling it a day, he walked to the office and worked his usual shift.
The hugely-experienced cop has proven again and again that he won't let anyone or anything stop him from doing his job.
With his 92nd birthday coming up in May, he said he'll retire "when the good lord says so."
