Youth soccer coach accused of raping children after disturbing photos were found on phone
Franklin, Tennessee - A popular youth soccer coach has been accused of drugging and raping multiple young boys after he left his phone at a restaurant.
According to a news release from the Franklin Police Department, a cell phone was left behind at a local restaurant by a patron on June 22.
As the staff were going through the phone trying to figure out the identity of its owner, they discovered "dozens of unconscionable videos and pictures of children," and immediately called the police.
Detectives conducted an investigation, identifying the owner as Camilo Hurtado Campos (63), and discovered hundreds of photos and videos on the phone where "Campos recorded himself raping unconscious boys between approximately 9 and 17 years old."
"Campos frequented nearby school playgrounds in both neighborhoods where he approached kids and recruited them as players on his team," the release explains. "After gaining their trust, Campos invited many of the kids to his home where he drugged and then raped them."
Authorities have identified at least two of the 10 children, and are continuing to work with people in the community and those familiar with Campos to identify the rest.
Campos is being held on two charges, rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor, and detectives are expected to file several more as they conclude their investigation.
