University of Kentucky student assaults Black dorm employee and uses racial slur in viral video
Lexington, Kentucky - A student at the University of Kentucky was arrested after she was caught on video assaulting and yelling racial slurs at a Black dorm employee.
The video of the incident, which took place Sunday morning, has gone viral, and the woman in the clip has been identified as Sophia Rosing (22).
Rosing is seen clearly intoxicated and throwing punches at a student employee, identified as Kylah Spring, who tries to restrain her. Rosing also repeatedly uses the n-word, and continues to do so as officers arrive.
"I placed the female in custody. I removed her from the area where she continued to repeat the same word," explains the police report obtained by NBC News. "Subject stated that she has lots of money and [gets] special treatment. When I told her to sit back in the chair she kicked me and bit my hand."
Rosing was booked at the Fayette County Detention Center later that morning with a bond of $10,000. She faces charges of public intoxication, second-degree disorderly conduct, fourth-degree assault, and third-degree assault on a police officer.
The University condemned the student's actions in a statement, adding that "the student worker acted with professionalism, restraint, and discretion."
Rosing's employer, Dillard’s Campus Influencer, also announced that her relationship with the company had been "terminated immediately."
Sophia Rosing is due in court for a preliminary hearing scheduled for November 15.
