Texas man shot his ex-wife four times while their children slept in the next room
Tomball, Texas - A Texas man was arrested last Monday after he allegedly broke into his ex-wife's home early morning and shot her four times.
As KTRK reported, Andrea Wright Walker was rushed to the hospital shortly after the incident at 3:30 AM for surgery to remove bullets and bone fragments from her body.
She is currently in stable condition and is expected to survive.
Moments before the gruesome attack, Aaron Wright allegedly cut off all power to Walker's home before breaking in through the back window. He then shot his ex-wife multiple times while their four children slept in the next room.
Luckily, none of the kids were injured.
Surveillance footage obtained by KTRK shows the suspect and a woman approach the house of the family on foot before fleeing the crime scene in the opposite direction just minutes later. Investigators believe the second suspect is Wright's new girlfriend.
According to People, Wright and Walker would have had a custody hearing later that day. Investigators think that the father may have been worried about losing custody of his four children.
The victim called police on her ex-husband several times before
This wasn't the first instance of violence on Wright's part, as friends of Walker said that he was frequently abusive.
The mom of four apparently called police on her ex-husband several times in the last three months, and even obtained a temporary restraining order against him last year. However, a motion to make it permanent was dismissed in November 2020.
Wright has since been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the shooting. He appeared in court on Tuesday and his bond has been set at $175,000.
He is currently out of jail, but is not allowed to go near Walker or his children and will also have to wear a GPS monitoring device around his ankle.
Investigators told KTRK that the four children are now safe and staying with their grandmother.
Walker's best friend Melissa Geoghagan has since set up a GoFundMe page to help cover any medical expenses.
