Kennesaw, Georgia - Police in Georgia have found three bodies on a golf course, all with gunshot wounds. One of the victims is a well-known professional golfer.
The crime occurred Saturday in Kennesaw at Pinetree Country Club, according to Cobb County police.
Officers found professional golfer Eugene "Gene" Siller with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene, they said.
The bodies of two other people were discovered in a pickup truck nearby, also with gunshot wounds. One of them was believed to be the owner of the truck.
The suspects have not yet been identified and are on the run, according to WSBTV, who also reported that police believe Siller was killed for witnessing a crime – essentially, a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Detectives have learned that Mr. Siller happened upon a crime in progress involving the unknown suspect and the two deceased males who were found in the pickup truck. It does not appear Siller was in any way targeted, but rather was killed because he witnessed an active crime taking place," police said Tuesday.
Paul Pierson (76) of Kansas and 46-year-old Henry Valdez of California were the other two victims of the horrific crime.
