Peaches Stergo (36) met the 87-year-old, unnamed victim on a dating website about six or seven years ago, but according to a press release from the Department of Justice, her intentions were anything but good.

Her swindle apparently began in early 2017 when she asked the victim for help paying her lawyer, who she said was withholding funds from an injury settlement.

The victim sent Stergo $25,000 to help her out, and she confirmed the settlement funds were put into her bank account – when in reality, they never were.

Prosecutors have claimed she continued using similar lies over the years, going as far as creating a fake email account to appear as a TD Bank employee.

The victim sent 62 checks totaling $2.8 million, and ended up losing his apartment.

Stergo, on the other hand, "lived a life of luxury" with her new millions, buying a condo in a gated Florida community, a boat, and numerous cars.

Things finally ended when the elderly man reportedly told his son what was going on, who then alerted the authorities.

Stergo was arrested on one count of wire fraud at her Florida home on Wednesday, and she faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
