Deadly obsession: ex arrested for sending bomb-rigged bouquet
Francisco Morato, Brazil - A 49-year-old woman was hospitalized for 10 days after a bouquet of red roses, along with a gift-wrapped bomb, exploded and partially destroyed her home.
According to the Daily Star, Edileuza Ramalho opened the life-threatening gift on January 2 and the blast seriously injured her face and arms.
The explosion of the bomb even partially demolished her house in Francisco Morato, Brazil. She had to be rushed to the hospital immediately and could not leave for the next 10 days.
Her son Jonathan Cardoso dos Santos, who was also in the house when the attack occurred, later told local media that he was thrown into the air by the force of the blast.
On February 2, police arrested the 49-year-old's ex-boyfriend Eduardo Lazarim. Supposedly, he had not accepted their breakup.
According to the Brazilian's family members, Edileuza Ramalho ended her relationship with Eduardo Lazarim in December after discovering that he was already married.
Her sister-in-law Kelly Oliveira even stated that the 49-year-old was terrified of her ex after the split: "She'd say 'don't leave me alone, he'll come here, he'll want to kill me' and she'd keep on saying this all the time."
Before the suspect was taken into custody, Ramalho repeatedly demanded her ex-boyfriend's arrest on Instagram and Facebook.
Now, Eduardo Lazarim must stand trial on suspicion of attempted murder. The investigation is ongoing.
