TikToker finds out the incredible value of the sofa she sold for only $500!
Carpentersville, Illinois - Jules Schreiner had to learn the hard way that doing a little research can pay off big time.
As the young TikTok user explained in one of her videos, she wanted to get rid of a sofa as quickly as possible after someone gave it to her for free.
Much to her delight, a buyer was quickly found. "Within seconds" she got rid of the piece of furniture and got $500 for it.
"Thought I got a great deal on FB market place but ya know things are always too good to be true," she captioned the clip.
But her joy was very short-lived.
Shortly after she sold the couch, she noticed that the man had posted about the brand on his Instagram, and so she decided to look it up.
Her research revealed that the sofa was created by a designer called Vladimir Kagan and was actually worth about $20,000 – what a bummer...
Her mishap on TikTok has since been watched almost 100,000 times and racked up and 2,700 likes in only a week.
In the comment section fellow users shared their sympathies and tried to cheer Jules up a little.
"Ok so from now on we are going to look for name brands on things we buy ok? Lol then we are going to GOOGLE THEM," one of them wrote.
Another tried to comfort her, "It's only worth that much if someone is willing to pay. I think you made out just fine by getting 500$."
Let's not forget who the real victim is: the person who the couch to Jules for free!
