TikTok comes to the rescue of a little boy who celebrated his birthday alone
Saskatchewan, Canada - It was supposed to be a great sixth birthday, but when a little boy had no answers to his invitations, TikTok came through in a really big way.
After sending out 22 invitations, one little boy began to realize nobody was coming to his birthday party. While he continued to wait on the playground, his mom took to TikTok in tears for her poor son.
In the clip, the frustrated mom explains, "So we're sitting in the park for JJ's birthday party, we got everything set up, his party started half an hour ago, literally zero people showed up for his birthday, my poor little man."
In the video, viewers can see a table with all the trappings of a colorful birthday, including decorations and festive cupcakes. Then the camera then pans across a deserted playground with only one little guy in the sandbox – the birthday boy.
The boy's mother clarified in her subtitles that although there was still a pandemic, celebrations of this kind were once again allowed in her province, Saskatchewan, Canada.
She also said she had deliberately chosen an outdoor location to be on the safe side.
TikTok users turn birthday into a great day after all
Apparently, the parents of the children invited had either decided they still didn't want to take any risks, or had just not cared enough to take the time to let JJ know they couldn't attend.
However, by the time the day ended, JJ's mom had tears in her eyes for an entirely different reason. Responses to JJ's lonely birthday had been huge on TikTok, with well-wishes pouring in from all over the world.
The sympathy for her video turned out to be gigantic compared to the number of guests originally invited. The clip already has well over 4 millions views and counting!
Emotional posts piled up in the comments, with some recounting similar experiences, others wanting to spontaneously send gifts to the newly turned six-year-old, and many leaving birthday wishes.
This blew JJ's mother's mind so much that she later posted a comment thanking everyone. She reported that JJ had enough toys and that he was so touched by the messages and comments and "politely asks" everyone to please send gifts to their local children's' hospital in his honor.
