In the video, the nurses from Emory University Hospital Midtown described their "icks" about the patients they work with.

Discussions of "icks" are a popular topic on TikTok, with the phrase originally referring to characteristics or behaviors that one finds cringeworthy in a potential romantic partner.

"My ick is when you come in for your induction, talking about, 'Can I take a shower and eat?'" the first nurse said.

Another nurse complained about patients who repeatedly come up to the front desk for assistance instead of using a call light.

"Another ick – when you're going room to room between one baby mama and your other baby mama," the nurse continued.

TikTok users slammed the nurses for their behavior in the video, with many calling for them to be fired for mocking their patients publicly. The scandal has sparked discussions across social media with near-unanimous disapproval of the video as Twitter users brand the video "gross" and "unprofessional."

Though the original video has been taken down, reposts and stitches of it continue to circulate on the app.

Emory Healthcare issued a statement on Instagram regarding the controversy, writing that they are aware of the "disrespectful and unprofessional" TikTok video.

"This video does not represent our commitment to patient- and family-centered care and falls far short of the values and standards we expect every member of our team to hold and demonstrate," the statement said.

Emory Healthcare appears to have fired the nurses, with the statement referring to them as "former employees."
