Flight attendant shares travel no-go's on TikTok: "Don't be that person!"
Utah - As a flight attendant, Kat Kamalani is naturally well-versed in rules and in-flight etiquette. She shares them with her followers in her popular TikTok videos.
One of her useful clips details typical mistakes travelers make, and how to avoid them.
The attendant also addresses the big question on everyone's mind: which person actually gets to claim the armrest? "If you sit in the middle, you get both armrests," the blonde declares.
"Don't be the person who sits by the window and already has the window seat and the armrest by the window and then grabs the inside armrest on top of that," Kamalani insists, clarifying that the same rule applies for the traveler who sits in the aisle seat.
The next rule is equally simple: whoever sits at the window gets to decide if the panel is open or closed.
Even if this natural order can feel annoying to other travelers, the rule is clear: hands off the window! Other passengers can certainly ask the person in the window-seat to adjust the shade, but it's still up to the owner of that seat.

When are passengers allowed to lay their seat back on the plane?
Kamalani explains that each seat was developed to be able to lay back because that is a perk that everyone has a right to, as every airplane passenger pays for the seat along with the ticket.
The only restriction the flight attendant cites here is that no one should adjust their seat while the plane is taking off or landing.
With more than 10,000 likes, the TikTok is clearly enjoying her insider tips. She also answers other questions, such as what to watch out for when drinking on the plane.
