Laura Ingraham misinterprets a pop culture reference in cringeworthy exchange
Washington DC – On an episode of a Fox News show called The Ingraham Angle, host Laura Ingraham misunderstood a reference to Netflix's hit series, You, and got quite defensive about it.
There was momentarily heated exchange on an episode of The Ingraham Angle on Monday evening between the show's host, Laura Ingraham, and commentator Raymond Arroyo.
In the clip that's now gone viral across the internet, Arroyo starts off his rant by addressing the "woke storylines" that have found their way into popular shows, such as You on Netflix.
He then goes on to say, "I was watching an episode of You where measles came up," before Ingraham defensively interjects while shaking her head in utter confusion, asking, "Wait, when did I mention measles?"
In an attempt to steer his colleague in the right direction, Arroyo follows up by saying, "It was on You," which only sent Ingraham into even more of a tizzy.
"What was on me? What are you talking about? Is Raymond even hearing what I'm saying? I never had the measles," Ingraham said.
It's quite obvious that the host and her guest commentator were having two entirely different conversations, with Arroyo referencing an episode from season three of You, and Ingraham thinking her colleague was trying to say she once had the measles, or covered the illness for a story.
"We never did a measles and vaccine episode. Am I, is this a joke? I don't even know what you're talking about," Ingraham declared, to which a visibly agitated Arroyo responded, "It was an episode of a show, Laura."
After Ingraham once again demanding the name of the show, her conservative colleague doubled down one last time, shouting, "It's a show called You on Netflix."
But the popular show's name still wasn't ringing any bells for the Fox News host, who replied, "There's a show called Laura Ingraham on Netflix?"
At that point, Arroyo had given up all hope of bringing Ingraham up to speed and pivoted to a less confusing topic – Adele.
Whether their brief yet impassioned exchange was organic or scripted is currently unknown.
