Travel blogger Kaitlyn McCaffery in a coma after terrible accident in Bali
Bali, Indonesia - Travel blogger Kaitlyn McCaffery is in a coma following a motor scooter crash in Bali.
The tragedy is made even worse by the pandemic conditions.
Kaitlyn's relatives are now going through a harrowing ordeal trying to deal with Indonesian authorities to get her back home as soon as possible.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, they still haven't been able to visit their loved one in the hospital – even two weeks after her tragic accident.
With Kaitlyn's international medical insurance company refusing to cover the cost of transporting her back to the US, her family had no choice but to set up a GoFundMe page – but the good news is that fans are stepping up big time.
So far, more than $290,000 were raised, exceeding the original goal of $250,000 needed to transport her home.
Two men found Kaitlyn unconscious on a road
On July 31, two locals found the young influencer on a remote road in Bali – "alone, unconscious, broken and bleeding".
She had apparently crashed her scooter earlier, badly injuring herself.
Her family has no doubts: "Without [the men's] help, she surely would have died."
Kaitlyn is currently hospitalized in Denpasar with "a traumatic brain injury along with multiple other serious injuries."
Thankfully, she can count on the full support of her friends and family, as well as her thousands of followers:
"Kaitlyn is fighting for her life ... Thankfully, Kaitlyn has many loving friends who are by her side in Bali and are providing the family with updates around the clock. The family is doing everything they can to get to Bali."
