British Instagram model Madalyn Davis falls to death while taking a selfie
Sydney, Australia - While vacationing Down Under, British Instagram model Madalyn Davis decided that it was time for her to get a selfie at Bondi Beach. Sadly, having climbed a fence, she fell to her death.
According to Daily Star, the terrible accident, which occurred on January 11, has been reconstructed piece-by-piece as law enforcement, police, and forensic experts put their investigation together.
Madalyn Davis, a make-up artist and influencer who studied at Retford Oaks Academy in Nottingham, England, was vacationing in Australia when she decided to make a trip into Sydney's east and visit the famous tourist beach at Bondi.
In a tragic turn of events, the Instagram model climbed a short fence that faced out over the ocean and prepared herself to take a selfie. Sadly, it was never to be.
How did Madalyn Davis fall to her death?
Sadly, Madalyn Davis got a bit too reckless when partying at Bondi Beach with locals and other tourists. It is believed that over the course of the night, she consumed a dangerous mix of alcohol and drugs.
At one point, a group of eight decided to climb over a fence onto a nearby cliff. The rock faces out over the beach and ocean, offering a fantastic view. Until the tragedy it was an extremely popular "selfie spot" for this very reason.
Standing right up against the edge of the cliff and clutching her phone, Madalyn tried to take a photo of herself. As she was doing so, she lost her balance, staggered backwards, tripped, and fell off the cliff.
The 21-year-old suffered severe injuries upon impact with the ground, and died on the spot. Later, a high concentration of MDMA, cocaine, ketamine, and alcohol was found in her blood.
Death at Bondi Beach met with devastation, and skepticism
Nearly one year after the accident, Madalyn Davis's parents are still devastated by their loss. This has been made all the worse by internet trolls who have decided to mock the young woman and call her "self-obsessed."
"My daughter was not self-obsessed, she was a wonderful, beautiful person that made a mistake," Madalyn's mother Rebecca Smith said.
After several investigations and interviews with witnesses, the case was classified as a misadventure by forensic experts. An initial assumption that Madalyn's friends had led her to massive drinking and drug use proved groundless.
A friend of Madalyn Davis said: "It is a great tragedy of a young person trying to live life to the full ... It is not the first death in that area, and sadly, it will not be the last."
