Yabba Dabba Doo! The Flintstones are getting a sequel
Los Angeles, California - Great news for fans of the popular Stone Age family: the 60's animated series The Flintstones is getting a sequel.
Warner Bros. Animation Studio has announced a new animated series, Bedrock. Elizabeth Banks (47), known for Pitch Perfect, will both produce and lend her voice to the series.
Lindsay Kerns, who was part of the team that made Jurassic World: New Adventures is on board as a screenwriter.
"It's been a abba dabba DELIGHT to write," Kerns shared on Twitter Tuesday.
With the cry of "Yabba Dabba Doo!" cartoon character Fred Flintstone made himself known and loved worldwide.
The Flintstones' adventures were brought to life by animators Joseph Barbera and William Hanna from 1960 to 1966 with more than 150 episodes. It was the first animated series on evening television and went on to be a global hit.
The main characters in Stone Age suburbia are Fred and Wilma Flintstone with daughter Pebbles and their neighbors Betty and Barney Rubble with son Bamm-Bamm.
Bedrock is now set 20 years later, with Fred approaching retirement and Pebbles all grown up and seeking her own way in the more advanced Bronze Age.
