They'll be there for you: Friends reunion releases air date and teases spots from A-list stars!
Burbank, California - It's official! The Friends reunion has a premiere date. The highly-anticipated special will bring back all six main cast members for the first time since the popular series ended, but fans are in store for surprise guest appearances from a few A-listers!
Over twenty years ago, audiences said farewell to the six New Yorkers who graced TV screens for ten seasons.
Now, HBO Max has set a release date for the long-awaited special after postponing the project due to Covid-19.
On May 27, the world will get to see Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc reunite on the series' original soundstage, Stage 24 at Warner Bros. Studios, for the first time in decades.
On Thursday, it was further revealed that the special will have an ensemble of guest appearances from big names in Hollywood.
Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Mindly Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, and BTS are among the few that are confirmed to show their faces during the special.
While specific details about the reunion show remain under wraps, some of the cast have dropped subtle hints as to what is to be expected during the episode.
What fans can expect during the Friends Reunion Show
During his appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Schwimmer, who portrayed Ross Geller, revealed that the cast won't be reprising their roles, but teased that there would be one section in the special that involved everyone reading something.
The actor also shared that the episode will be more of a look-back over the show's ten seasons and a discussion about the cultural phenomenon it created.
It sounds like the gig will be following in the footsteps of The Fresh Prince Bel-Air reunion, which aired on HBO Max in November 2020.
Grab your tissues, popcorn, and lobsters! We're going back to Central Perk to catch up with some special Friends, and we can't wait.
