The Kardashians: Met Monday arrives in lackluster fashion
Calabasas, California - Season 2 of The Kardashians on Hulu continues to drag on, and episode 9 saw the Kar-Jenners combat anxiety to attend what the family dubbed the greatest red carpet of all time.
Before getting into the thick of it, we have to ask: does it seem like this season of The Kardashians is a total snooze fest compared to the first, or is it just us?
Season 1 gave viewers, fans, and foes of the Kardashian-Jenners a behind-the-scenes look at the family's response to the noise happening around them, such as Kanye West's rants amid Kim Kardashian's attempt to divorce him, and Tristan Thompson's two-timing ways.
However, that doesn't seem to be the case this season, and if we're being honest – we miss the chaos. Given the fact that everything we're seeing on a weekly basis, Thursday's episode included, seems to recap the surface level shenanigans most pop culture fiends already knew about, we're finding it hard to engage.
Was it interesting to see how Kim set up a mini photoshoot room in her hotel to get the "perfect" pic before going under the (sometimes) unforgiving lights of a red carpet? Sure.
But would it have been more interesting to hear her thoughts on bringing former flame Pete Davidson, who made a cameo appearance in Thursday's episode for a sexy shower scene? Of course. Did we get that? Nope!
Did The Kardashians lose its sparkle?
Instead, we heard about how Kim turned him down at the 2021 Met Gala when he tried to ask for her number, to which she said she couldn't give it to him because she was wearing gloves.
We'd like to now remind everyone that Kim did attend the 2021 Met with her ex-husband Ye West, which probably added another layer of complexity to the whole "giving out her phone number" thing.
While witnessing the "sneak peeks" into the complexities of prepping for a major red carpet such as the Met Gala were moderately fascinating and mildly anxiety-provoking, we can't be the only viewers itching for more from the Kar-Jenners.
If season one hadn't set the tea-spilling bar so high, we might feel differently. But, that's simply not the case.
Perhaps The Kardashians will return to its revealing ways when the season finale drops at midnight EST on November 24.
