The Kardashians: Kim Kardashian reveals just how she talked her way into Marilyn Monroe's dress
Calabasas, California - Episode 7 of Hulu's The Kardashians saw Kim Kardashian dip her toe in Marilyn Monroe's fashion-forward closet as the family prepped for their day in court.
From Khloé Kardashian turning down Tristan's adamant offer to pay for their daughter True's fourth birthday party to Kim Kardashian dishing on a Photoshop fail with KoKo's kiddo, Thursday's episode of The Kardashians was wildly telling. However, these were hardly the only bombshells revealed.
We're not saying it wasn't interesting to hear just what happened with Kim's odd photo editing job when she photoshopped a photo of True's face atop of Kylie Jenner's daughter Stormy's face, because it was. After all, she actively chose to photoshop a photo in order to hide Stormy's identity at Kylie's request just because the color scheme of the snap matched the theme of her IG grid.
However, finding out just how she talked her way into wearing Marilyn Monroe's iconic "happy birthday" dress on the Met Gala red carpet – a move that started quite the media frenzy – was far more captivating.
Kim Kardashian dishes on landing her Marilyn Monroe moment
As it turns out, Kimmy Cakes ran into a lot of nos before Ripley's and the owner of the dress even agreed to consider letting her rock the gown. She first ordered a replica of the dress that had some stretch to it to prove that she could fit into the real deal.
Once the owner was open to the idea, it wasn't until Kris Jenner intervened that Kim was even allowed to try the dress on, which didn't even go past hear rear end at the first fitting. This, of course, led Kim to work out for hours and go on a crash diet – something else that's been widely criticized related to her Met look – in an effort to make her Marilyn and John F. Kennedy red carpet dreams come true.
While shrinking herself to fit into a dress she probably shouldn't have been allowed to wear in the first place isn't necessarily the body positive message many would like to see in 2022, at least Kim was honest about the intent. Though, she probably could've just worn the replica she inevitably changed into after the red carpet from the jump. But Kim was extremely dedicated to creating this specific moment in the real deal, and we kind of respect her dedication to the iconic cause.
Amid Kim's Met Gala drama, the family was also busy preparing for the defamation trial brought against them by Rob Kardashian's ex, Blac Chyna.
Though we already know the Kar-Jenners won, we can't wait to see just how they really felt while it was going down when The Kardashians returns to Hulu on November 10 at midnight ET.
