"Thank you, just thank you": Keeping Up With The Kardashians comes to a bittersweet end

Calabasas, California – In an intimate and emotional series finale, Kim Kardashian confided in momager Kris Jenner about her quest for happiness, and Kourtney warned her sisters to stop gaslighting her ex Scott Disick.

To say the series finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians was a bit of a tear-jerker would be a major understatement.

After 14 years and 20 seasons, the Kardashians bid farewell to the show that made them everything they are today, and they were quick to acknowledge that truth every chance they had.

As the family took their last KUWTK trip to Lake Tahoe, Kourtney (42) put her feelings of gratitude aside and confronted her sisters about something that's plagued her not only this season, but nearly the entirety of the series: her relationship with Scott Disick (38).

Over the course of season 20, nearly everyone in the Kardashian crew has told Kourtney that she and Scott should be together, at one point or another. Scott continued to look on throughout, batting his angel eyes, in an attempt to look innocent.

Though Kourtney admitted Scott is an amazing father to their three kids, it didn't change the fact that he still wasn't able to show the one thing she'd been asking to see from him: consistency.

Kim sees her own marital struggles reflected in Kourtney and Scott

It's no surprise to fans of the show that Scott has long dealt with substance abuse problems, which was the main reason he and Kourtney ended things to begin with.

But hearing Kourtney address her sisters head-on, and seeing her get more real with Scott during the last episode, gave insight into their partnership that many hadn't seen before – especially Kim.

Given that the 40-year-old has been dealing with relationship woes of her own with Kanye West (44), Kim told the cameras that she was now able to better understand Kourtney and her reservations when it came to making a relationship work with the father of her children.

Once the family returned to their respective homes in Hidden Hills and the finale was reaching its end, Kris Jenner (65) popped over to Kim's house for an emotional check-in with her daughter.

As the two sat in Kim's minimalist and modern home, Kris did her best to try and crack her daughter's thick emotional barricade open.

When the iconic momager – a term the family had trademarked for Kris back in season 8 – expressed her concern for Kim's well-being, the beauty mogul shot back in a direct way.

Kim told her mom she was being a "real adult" and talking things out with a licensed therapist of her own.

During the moving mother-daughter moment, Kim admitted that her marriage with Kanye wasn't fulfilling. She noted that the times they were the happiest together were the times they were physically apart, and that it was "just sad."

Kanye hardly made an appearance at all during the show's final season, and the series finale was no different.

Kim did mention Kanye's desire to move from place to place, noting that she felt he should be able to do that. She also thought he should be partnered with someone who has that same flexibility, but that it just wasn't her.

Despite her marital struggles, there's one thing Kim can hang her hat on: her pursuit of happiness.

"I do know that I will be happy," Kim said.

As a slew of old footage flooded the screen leading up to the show's final curtain, Billie Eilish's Grammy-winning single Everything I Wanted played in the background. The family uttered their final words to viewers, with Kourtney saying, "We will always be OK because we have each other."

Kris put a cap on their goodbyes with a simple and heartfelt, "Thank you, just thank you" to the viewers and fans who have made their lives what they are now.

As the Kardashian-Jenners said dozens of times throughout the two-part series finale, they will be forever grateful and in-debt to the fans who simply chose to show up for them at every dramatic turn over the show's 20-season run.

All that's left to completely close the door on KUWTK is a light grilling by host Andy Cohen in an upcoming two-part reunion special, with Part One set to air June 17 on E!.
