South Park mocks conspiracies in hour-long "Vaccination Special"
Los Angeles, California - South Park returned on Wednesday with a bumper episode mocking the pandemic-induced headlines and conspiracy movements of the past months.
The special episode shows Cartman and his friends in their attempts to get a vaccine for their teacher.
But on their journey, the gang comes face to face with QAnon conspiracy theorists. It's safe to say the scenes are not short of punchlines.
"You guys have a right to say and believe whatever you want, OK? But what you believe is really stupid," Cartman tells a QAnon supporter at one point.
The show's creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker also mocked streaming services such as Disney+ by adding a banner at the beginning, stating that there would be negative depictions and mistreatment of people and cultures, a reference to Disney's recent reevaluation of it catalog.
The producers went on to ridicule one of QAnon's most popular narratives, starring fictional characters Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Oprah Winfrey and depicting them as part of an "elite cult" that "feeds off children."
For the first time in its 23 years, the show halted its production amid the pandemic. It is still unclear if it will be returning for a full season featuring ten episodes this fall.
According to CNN, the episode was the second hour-long special, after last year's pandemic special racked up over four million views on Comedy Central.
Meanwhile, fans have celebrated the episode's release and its accompanying punchlines all across social media.
