Saturday Night Live loses more star power as three cast members call it quits
New York, New York - Saturday Night Live is losing yet another handful of talented cast members as the show gears up for its 48th season.
According to USA Today, mainstays Melissa Villaseñor, Alex Moffat, and Aristotle Athari won't be returning this October when the iconic sketch comedy show makes its return.
The stars haven't spoken publicly on why they have left the show. Moffat and Villaseñor have had successful runs on the show since joining the team in 2016, while Athari joined only a year ago and has struggled to receive an adequate amount of screen time.
The news comes only three months after members Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, and Kyle Mooney made their final appearances at the end of the previous season.
It has also been revealed that cast member Cecily Strong will be absent for the first half of the upcoming series.
With seven cast members now gone, executive producer Lorne Michaels has reportedly been holding auditions for new members, but the long list of heavy hitters who have exited the show means there are some very big shoes to fill.
Saturday Night Live has a tough road ahead, but a cast of fresh blood may be just what it needs to revive the show, which saw some alarming ratings last season.
