Peacemaker: Finale rocks fans with epic cameos
The finale of Peacemaker brought an epic conclusion to its first season with a bloody showdown and secret cameos.
Peacemaker is by far the DC Extended Universe's greatest achievement.
The HBO Max series was a thrilling ride from start to finish thanks to the superb direction of James Gunn and the ensemble cast.
And alas, the ride is over – but just for now.
Thankfully, on the eve of the final episode's release, HBO Max confirmed the series has been renewed for a second season.
On Thursday, the season finale brought a bloody awesome conclusion to this chapter of the John Cena-led show.
The eighth episode, It's Cow or Never, wraps up Project Butterfly's mission against the alien race looking to take over Earth.
The somewhat fractured Black Ops team finally locates the creatures' life source: an oversized-extraterrestrial caterpillar that the butterflies milk for honey. Because of this, they dub the creature a "cow" – but it clearly isn't.
All hell breaks loose when the team decides to take matters into their own hands, which leads to one of the most epic fight scenes to date, as Peacemaker, Harcourt, and Vigilante take on the butterfly-infected police force.
Yet it's only the tip of the iceberg for viewers, as Gunn cleverly pulls off a major plot twist just in the nick of time.
Peacemaker finale pulls off epic DCEU crossover
Spoilers ahead!
Throughout the gritty series, Peacemaker has hilariously name-dropped several DCEU heroes – and made it clear that he hates them.
This led to speculation among fans that one of these do-gooders could possibly show up to assist Project Butterfly. Fortunately they did – even if they were fashionably late.
Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa reprised their DCEU roles as Barry Allen/The Flash and Arthur Curry/Aquaman, respectively, in surprise cameo appearances after Project Butterfly's climactic battle.
Peacemaker hilariously disses the Justice League members by calling them "f**cking d**kheads" for their tardiness.
He also prods Aquaman over a running-joke that he allegedly has sexual relations with fish, which The Flash jokingly confirms he's heard as well.
"I'm so f**king sick of that rumor," Momoa says, to which Miller quips, "It's not a rumor."
"F**k you, Barry," Aquaman hilariously retorts.
Gunn, you sneaky bastard.
To be honest, our only complaint about the raunchy season is that it's unfortunately over.
But for those who want to keep hanging with Peacemaker, Project Butterfly, and the best pet in the world, Eagly, the DCEU show is streaming on HBO Max until its next season unveils.
Hopefully fans won't have to wait too long for it.
