Noah Schnapp confirms Stranger Things character's sexuality
Los Angeles, California - Noah Schnapp has revealed that his character on Stranger Things is gay – but what will this mean for the finale season?
The teen star has set the record straight on his character Will Byers' sexuality during a recent interview with Variety.
Since season one of the Emmy-nominated series, Will's sexual orientation has been heavily discussed among fans.
Though the Netflix sci-fi horror show's latest chapter seemingly teased that the teen star's character is gay, it wasn't outright confirmed.
Per the actor, the Hawkins teen is gay and also has unrequited feelings for his BFF, Finn Wolfhard's Mike Wheeler.
Does Will Byers' sexuality mean a love triangle will occur?
Schnapp dished that Will's sexuality "was always kind of there" since the series first debuted.
"Now that he's gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it's 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike."
Fans may recall the emotional car conversation between Will and Mike in the finale of season four and Will's heart-to-heart with his older brother, Charlie Heaton's Jonathan Byers.
Schnapp explained, "It's just the perfect way to tell someone like Will that he cares about him and he accepts him no matter what. I think it was really wholesome."
Yet, there's a tiny problem since Will's bestie is currently dating the super-powered Eleven/Jane, played by Millie Bobby Brown, who's also Will's adopted sister.
"And then Eleven is like his sister, but he doesn't want to hurt her because if he says he likes Mike, that's gonna hurt her feelings. There's all these things running in his mind. So I kind of just have to make sure that I'm conveying the depth of all his traumas."
From the sound of it, Vecna won't be the only problem the Hawkins teens will have to face in the final season.
In the meantime, fans can binge Stranger Things season four Volumes One and Two on Netflix!
