Netflix pays homage to Wednesday's TikTok fame in Season 2 teaser
Los Gatos, California - Netflix has officially confirmed the fate of its hit TV show Wednesday, and it took a page out of TikTok's book to do so!
The streaming service made fans' dreams come true on Friday with an official confirmation of the show's renewal for a second season.
The 45-second video gave a knowing nod to the series' TikTok fame with the use of a sped-up remix of Lady Gaga's song, Bloody Mary.
The 2011 track accompanied a flood of viral fan edits of Wednesday's deadpan dance scene.
The dance routine, which was choreographed by leading star Jenna Ortega, also sparked a wave of TikToks of users re-creating the now-iconic dance to the trending sound.
Though the song wasn't actually used in the scene, Bloody Mary has become synonymous with the show among viewers. The song received a massive boost on the streaming charts thanks to its TikTok popularity.
The teaser has earned approval from Wednesday fans everywhere due to its social media awareness.
"THEM USING BLOODY MARY FOR THE OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.... NETFLIX YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS," one fan tweeted.
"the fact that it’s set to Bloody Mary is a slay," another fan said in a reply to the teaser.
"Bloody mary having its actual peak 12 years later because of a Netflix show is so wild to me lady gaga u will always be relevant !!!!!" one Gaga stan wrote.
