Megan McCain makes a stunning announcement on The View!
New York, New York - A major shakeup is coming to daytime television!
Meghan McCain is officially leaving The View!
On Thursday, the controversial host addressed her decision to step down from the popular daytime show.
"This was not an easy decision. It took a lot of thought and counsel and prayer and talking to my family and my close friends," the host shared during the show.
The columnist further shared that her father, the late Senator John McCain, encouraged her to join the panel alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin.
But her journey on the show hasn't been an easy one.
For some time, fans of the daytime series have called for Megan's resignation due to some of her more controversial comments. The conservative is known for her staunch viewpoints and explosive disagreements with the other ladies, particularly Joy.
The two have gone toe to toe over several political standpoints. One recent disagreement led executives at ABC to step in and speak to the hosts about their combative spats.
Nevertheless, Meghan has shared in the past that she is close to all of her colleagues despite their different opinions.
"It is a privilege to work alongside such strong, brilliant, intelligent, incredible broadcasters like the four of you. You are the most talented woman on all of television, hands down, and it has been so incredible to do this with you," she added.
Megan shares a daughter, Liberty, with her husband, commentator Ben Domenech.
While it's certainly sad to see her go, Meghan McCain will still be around for the rest of the month to duke it out with the ladies and ruffle some more feathers.
