Marvel's What If...? dives deeper into the multiverse with shocking twist ending!
Marvel's What If...? took a shocking turn in the seventh episode as Wednesday's episode of the dark animated series completely changed the game!
From the beginning, it was apparent that What If...? would be vastly different from other Marvel projects.
The series has mercilessly killed off fan-favorite characters, introduced zombies, and essentially shattered the hearts of viewers with unexpected, eerie endings.
Now, with only two more chapters left, What If...? is gearing up for what is sure to be a very intense conclusion.
The seventh episode directly picks up from the ending of the previous one, as the diabolical supervillan Ultron unexpectedly arrived on Earth.
In this universe, the super-intelligent robot succeeded with his plans of a global nuclear holocaust after nabbing the Mind Stone and Vision's vibranium body.
The Avengers unfortunately are no match for the psychopathic A.I. and The Watcher is finally forced to intervene.
But his decision may drastically affect the multiverse and lead to more madness ensuing.
The Watcher makes a deadly ally that could spell trouble!
In the 2015 film, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony Stark thought it would be best if the world had a "protective shield."
This led to his secret "Ultron" global defense project.
Things ultimately went very wrong as "Ultron" became overwhelmed with a god complex.
The Avengers were eventually able to stop him from trying to "eradicate all human life."
But in the What If...? timeline, Earth's mightiest heroes were all killed in the fight against Ultron – except for Carol Danvers, Clint Barton, and Natasha Romanoff. On their own, they are no match for the self-righteous serial killer.
Things take an even crazier turn when Ultron stumbles upon the existence of the multiverse and The Watcher, which leads to a interdimensional battle that the alien almost loses.
The Watcher has no choice but to recruit backup and shockingly turns to Strange Supreme for help.
Since The Watcher essentially turned his back on the evil Dr. Strange in the fourth episode, it will be interesting to see if the sorcerer would be willing to help defeat Ultron.
Even more important is what will happen afterwards, should Strange Supreme decide to come through. With the multiverse pretty much screwed up, this could lead to him escaping, therefore setting in motion the plot for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Marvel fans better prepare themselves, this probably won't end well.
Marvel's What If...? is streaming on Disney +.
