Jeopardy! torched after including possibly the worst clue ever
Culver City, California - The trivia show Jeopardy! is under fire after presenting an extremely bizarre and insensitive clue on Sunday's episode.
The episode featured a crop of celebrity contestants: John Michael Higgins, Wil Wheaton, and Joel Kim Booster.
The shocking clue was included in a category in which every response included the letter A.
The pretty unremarkable correct response – "What are alligators?" – was paired with what just might be the worst clue in the show's history.
"In 2021, fugitive Brian Laundrie ended his days in Fla.'s Myakkahatchee Creek area, home to these long & toothy critters," the clue read.
Laundrie took his own life after he confessed to killing his 22-year-old girlfriend Gabby Petito, whose disappearance in September 2021 garnered significant media attention.
Viewers were quick to call out the horrifically bad clue on social media, calling it "tasteless" and "appalling." The fact that the answer was something so simple made matters even worse (and while we're at it, calling alligators "toothy critters" is weird enough on its own).
Per TMZ, a lawyer representing the Laundrie family has demanded an apology from the show.
