Hawkeye: the new black widow arrives seeking revenge against the Avenger
Burbank, California – Only two episodes in Hawkeye remain as Clint Barton desperately tries to make it home to his family for Christmas.
But as the holiday draws nearer, it's looking like the Avenger may not be able to fulfill his wish.
The fourth episode for the Disney+ series was jam-packed with epic fighting sequence;, sweet moments between Clint and his new protegé, Kate; and a twist ending that fans have been anticipating.
Florence Pugh makes her long-awaited return as Yelena Belova.
The assassin was introduced in the Black Widow film as a sister-figure to the late Natasha Romanoff.
At the end of the movie, it was teased that Yelena would hunt Clint down as she assumes he is responsible for Natasha's death.
Her arrival has now caused Clint more problems that he asked for, leading him to consider Kate's safety.
Clint's newest enemy brings back painful memories
Clint's struggles to deal with the loss of his longtime friend and partner are explored in the latest episode.
During an emotional conversation with Kate, the skilled archer recalled the moment he met his deceased best friend.
Much like Natasha, Clint was also a trained assassin who was sent to eliminate her – but upon meeting the Black Widow, he aptly changed his mind.
This led to the twosome's endearing bond, something that Clint is visibly missing during the holiday season.
Unfortunately, Yelena wasn't told the same story about her late sister's relationship with the hero.
Though her debut was brief, it's clear that Yelena is going to cause some serious issues for Clint, who is also still trying to get Maya Lopez and her tracksuit thugs off his trail.
Things get even more complicated when Clint experiences déjà vu during a fight-off against Yelena and Maya where Kate almost falls off a roof.
Of course, Clint is able to prevent Kate from getting seriously injured, but the brief moment shakes the archer up, leading him to send Kate home for her own good.
Yet, to be frank, Kate's home life isn't much safer.
Despite attempts by Kate's mother, Eleanor, played by Vera Farmiga, to keep her daughter safe, her fiancé is clearly up to no good – but his charms continue to make him irresistible.
With the amount of bad guys piling up, Clint does need all the help he can get if he wants to be home in time to unwrap presents.
Kate seems more than willing to lend a hand – she even took the news of his past as Ronin better than expected.
But Clint has to allow himself to get close to another partner while also forgiving himself for his past errors, which could be a problem with Yelena also seeking vengeance against him.
Hawkeye is now streaming on Disney+.
