Fans react to newly dropped How I Met Your Father
The highly-anticipated show How I Met Your Father (HIMYF) has arrived - but is it a hit?
On Tuesday, the Hilary Duff-led new comedy debuted on Hulu. And while it's too soon to pass judgement on the show's success, viewers wasted no time in sharing their thoughts.
It seems the series is failing to make a great impression.
HIMYF follows the former Disney star as she plays Sophie, a hopeless romantic who recounts how she met her kids' father.
Much like How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM), the story is narrated by a future Sophie, voiced by Sex and the City alum Kim Cattrall.
Newcomers Francia Raisa, Christopher Lowell, Tom Ainsley, and Suraj Sharma lend their comedic talents as Sophie's eclectic group of friends.
There are a few touching and nostalgic moments in the series that pay homage to its predecessor. A fan favorite: Lowell's character Jesse resides in the same apartment that belonged to Ted from HIMYM.
But the overall response to the series has been mixed, with some praising it on the internet, and of course, the Lizzie McGuire star.
One fan tweeted,"Okay but I actually really liked #HIMYF I just hope it doesn’t have the same sort of ending as #HIMYM did. So far it’s has a promising start though!"
Yet there are many more that aren't feeling the reboot.
One user wrote, "I’m halfway through the first episode of #HIMYF and the writing is so damn bad and cringey that I can’t get immersed in it at all. And why is there a laugh track on a streaming show in 2022??"
Then, there are the few that couldn't care less if the series is good or bad.
"No matter how good or bad it is, I got to show my support for Hilary Duff," a fan wrote.
To make your own call on the show, How I Met Your Father is now streaming on Hulu.
