Doctor Who finds a surprising new streaming home!
Burbank, California - Amid the massive hype surrounding Doctor Who's recent shocking plot twist, there's an exciting new update for fans of the show based outside the UK!
The cult-favorite sci-fi series will be available for streaming on Disney+ for viewers outside Britain and Ireland, where it will remain with the BBC.
Ncuti Gatwa, who will be playing the 15th regeneration of the Doctor, announced the news during an appearance on Live with Kelly & Ryan.
The 30-year-old applauded the decision, saying that the move would make the show more globally accessible.
Returning showrunner Russell T. Davies also praised the move, per The Hollywood Reporter.
"With the vision and joy of the BBC and Disney+ together we can launch the TARDIS all around the planet, reaching a new generation of fans while keeping our traditional home firmly on the BBC in the UK," Davies said.
Fan-favorite David Tennant is set to return for the show's special 60th-anniversary episodes before Gatwa takes over as the 15th Doctor in fall 2023.
