Cobra Kai's sixth Season is coming with some bad news for Karate Kid fans

Los Angeles, California - It's fight time again in the Valley as Netflix announced the show Cobra Kai will return for a sixth season. But as is often the case in life, the good news was also accompanied by bad news: There will not be a seventh season.

When YouTube Red announced a sequel to the Karate Kid classics in 2018, no one expected such a success. But Cobra Kai managed to thrill fans with the return of many actors from the original films, a certain 80s flair, and plenty of fight scenes.

The series has been on Netflix since its third season, and now the streaming giant announced its sixth and final season is "coming soon."

"We've been fighting so long. Against each other, with each other – it's hard to keep track," says William Zabka, who plays Johnny Lawrence in the movies and the series, in the sixth season's first teaser.

"After all this time, we've built something, together, to be proud of," adds his adversary-turned-friend Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio. Everything seems to come down to one final fight.

Cobra Kai showrunners write letter to fans

Showrunners Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg also addressed fans in a letter: "Reacquainting the world with The Karate Kid universe has been our humble honor," it reads.

"It has also enabled us to play Sensei, expanding the original storylines and birthing a new generation of underdogs," the statement continued.

Explaining why the popular series would now come to an end, the showrunners said, "Our goal from day one with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we've always imagined."

That's exactly what season six seemingly aims to accomplish.

But that doesn't mean it's over for good as the series so aptly says – Cobra Kai never dies.
