Bridgerton star promises "the steaminess that we all deserve" in even hotter season two

London, UK - Hot, hotter, Bridgerton: Within a few weeks of its release, Netflix's historical series became the streaming service's most-watched show ever thanks to its sexy socialites. Now Jonathan Bailey, one of its leading actors, promises fans that season two is in the works and will be hotter than ever.

"The thing that’s so at the heart of Bridgerton is intimacy and identity and sexuality," the actor explained in an interview with the British Mirror, ramping up excitement.

He said he felt confident that producers will "make sure we still get the steaminess that we all deserve.”

The 32-year-old, who won an Olivier Award in 2018 on the London stage before landing a role on the popular TV show, portrays Anthony Bridgerton, the head of the Bridgerton family. Known for his salacious affairs, he and his naked butt were introduced to viewers in the first minutes of episode one.

The second season of Bridgerton will be based on book two in the Julia Quinn romance novel series, The Viscount Who Loved Me.

The focus will no longer be on Daphne and Simon – the TV show's romantic leads – and instead will follow Anthony's search for a suitable bride. It is slated to begin filming in London this spring.

“I think the expression of sex in this show is so important,” Bailey said of his character's impending sexy scenes and his search for love.

The taming of the series' playboy will bring new faces to the cast. Deadline announced this week that Simone Ashley (25), from Netflix's Sex Education, will play love interest Kate Sharma – "a headstrong young woman" with whom Anthony doesn't get along with at first.

It looks like their friction will spark some heat in a much anticipated season two.
